The 2017 Houston Astros season was the 56th season for the franchise in Houston, their 53rd as the Astros, their fifth in the American League, and their 18th season at Minute Maid Park. On September 17, the Astros clinched the American League West with a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners. It was their first American League West title, and seventh division title overall. On September 29, the Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-2 for their 100th win of the season, their first 100-win season since 1998. They defeated the Boston Red Sox in four games in the Division Series and advanced to the American League Championship Series where they defeated the New York Yankees in seven games for their first American League pennant, second pennant in franchise history, and first pennant since 2005. The Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games in the World Series, earning their first World Series title in franchise history.
