The 1998 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1998 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head coach was Lloyd Carr. The Wolverines played their home games at Michigan Stadium. The 1998 Wolverines finished the season with a 10?C3 record (7?C1 in the Big Ten) and defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 1999 Florida Citrus Bowl. The team was ranked #12 in both the coaches and AP polls.
Entering 2017, this Michigan team is the last defending national champion in FBS football to lose their opening game (they lost their first two games for that matter)
