The 1997 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team represented the University of Nebraska?CLincoln in the 1997 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was coached by Tom Osborne and played their home games in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Nebraska won their third national championship in four seasons, but this one was shared with Michigan, a member of Nebraska's current conference, the Big Ten Conference.

As well as winning a share of the national title, they won the Big 12 Championship Game for the first time. Overall it was their 42nd Big 12 title (sixth in the last seven years), including championships won when the conference was known as the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association and later the Big Eight Conference.
